CP-Carrillo Carrillo Connecting Rod Rod Bolt Information

Fastener Material:
CP-Carrillo offers Rod Fasteners in 2 different Materials. WMC Bolts are an H11 Tool Steel fastener that has a 220 KSI rating. CARR Bolts are a multi phase bolt with a 285 KSI rating. Material can be determined from the serial number engraved on the bottom of the bolt. Serial Numbers starting with an H identify a WMC Bolt and serial numbers starting with an S identify a CARR bolt. WMC Bolts are rated for approximately 15-18 Torque Cycles. CARR Bolts are rated for an unlimited number of torque cycles as long as the bolt is not overstretched or overheated.

Stretch or Torque Rod Bolt:
It is recommended to use Rod Bolt Stretch to insure proper clamping load for the fastener. If you do not have a rod bolt stretch gauge, we have several options available. Please remember to use the Assembly Lube included with your rods on both the threads and under the bolt head when installing rod bolts to insure proper torque and clamping load.

How to Determine if your Rod Bolt needs replacement:
Rod Bolts need replacement if they have reached there yield point, either through torque cycles or simply over-yielding the bolt. The best way to determine this is to measure the free length of the rod bolt, then torque the rod bolt in the rod, and remove the rod bolt and measure the free length again. If the Free Length keeps increasing, the rod bolt has been over yielded and should be replaced

Replacement Fasteners are available if needed. Please Contact Us with any questions you may have.
