CP-Carrillo Wrist Pin Information

CP-Carrillo Wrist Pin Information:

CP-Carrillo offers many options for Wrist Pins with several different materials and several surface treatments to fit any and all applications.

CP-Carrillo Wrist Pin Part #'s:

CP-Carrillo Part Numbers tell you all you need to know about your wrist pin (dimensional and material / surface treatments).

EX. Part Number: X630-1500-12CP3C

First Letter (If Applicable): Tells you surface coating on the Wrist Pin. If your wrist pin does not start with a letter, your wrist pin does not have a surface coating. In most applications, you can upgrade to a wrist pin with a surface coating if you wish and fits your application, as long as wrist pin is dimensional equivalent.
-X, D, DLC, or S is for DLC Coating on Wrist Pin. DLC Coating is the top of the line coating and provides excellent hardness and wear resistance, while lowering the coefficient of friction. Comes Standard on most MX Series Pistons.
-W is for Ceramic Micro-Dimpled (WPC Surface Treatment). WPC Treatment is a surface treatment (not a coating). This Treatment provides affordable wear protection. WPC Treatment involves firing micro particles at the wrist pin to compact surface to increase hardness, improve surface finish, allow for better oil retention, and reduce friction. These Pins are standard with most Single Cylinder ATV / MX non-MX Series Pistons. These are great pins for budget minded customers looking for a performance wrist pin.
-SF is for Super Finished Wrist Pins.

First Set of Numbers (3-4 numbers before first dash): Tells Wrist Pin Diameter in thousands of an inch. Above Example Wrist Pin Part # has a wrist pin diameter of .630" (or 16mm).

Second Set of Numbers (4 numbers after first dash): Tells Wrist Pin Length in thousands of an inch. Above Example Wrist Pin Part # has a wrist pin length of 1.500".

Third Set of Numbers (2 numbers after second dash): Tells Wrist Pin Wall Thickness in hundreds (100 thousands of an inch) of an inch. Above Example Wrist Pin Part # has a wrist pin wall thickness of .120".

CP: Brand of Wrist Pin. CP is for CP-Carrillo Wrist Pin. Some Part Numbers do not use this and do not contain this CP, If your part number does not have CP in this spot, please skip to next part of part number.

Material ID (Number / 1-2 Letters after CP or Wall Thickness): This informs what material the Wrist Pin is that is being used.
-1 stands for 5100 Chromoly Series Material: These Wrist Pins feature affordable cost and great performance. Standard on most Pistons.
-3 stands for 9310 Steel Material: This Material is an high strength upgrade from the standard 5100 Chromoly Pins. Provides additional strength, etc. from the Chromoly material. Standard on most pistons designed specifically for turbo / nitrous applications. Can upgrade your 5100 Chromoly Wrist Pins to high strength 9310 Wrist Pins if you are looking for a stronger wrist pin applications.
-EN stands for EN39B Material: high quality Nickel-Chrome-Moly carburizing steel pins for high stress applications. Typically not used in power sport applications as the wrist pins aren't available in correct dimensions.

Last Letter: Indicates Chamfered or Non Chamfered Ends.
-S stands for unchamfered ends.
-C stands for chamfered ends.

Wrist Pin Upgrades:

There are several upgrades you can go to wrist pin depending on application and the piston you are using. Most important factors is wrist pin diameter and length, as you have to use the same dimensions as the piston originally used, as changing these dimensions will not work.

Material Upgrades: If your STD wrist pin is a 5100 Chromoly Material, you cna upgrade to a 9310 steel wrist pin. This is a higher strength material and will hold up in higher HP applications, turbo, nitrous, etc. If your piston comes standard with a 9310 wrist pin, we do not recommend down grading to a 5100 wrist pin, especially in turbo / nitrous applications.

Coating Upgrades: DLC is the top of the line coating for wrist pins, as it provides the best performance. Micro-Dimpled (WPC Treated) Wrist Pins are an affordable option if you are on a budget and looking for a good upgraded pin option.
