Clutch Kits: Plates and Springs.
These clutch kits are for use in the TRX450R/ER. Fits all years 04-14.
These clutch kits include:
-Clutch Plates (Fiber and Steels)
-Clutch Springs (6-included)
-and OEM Clutch Cover O-Ring.
Many Clutch Plate / Spring Configurations are available.
We recommend OEM kit for stock engines. These clutch kits include the OEM judder spring and skinnier inside plate (keeps same clutch feel as the stock clutch)
We recommend upgrading to the CRF clutch plates with any engine modifications. This conversion removes the judder spring and inner washer and replaces the skinny inner plate with a full size plate. This helps the clutch hold more power without slipping. This does make the clutch slightly more grabby and makes the rear wheels hop during slow speed engine braking. We recommend this kit for anyone with any engine modifications or anyone looking for a gripper clutch.
For Higher TQ applications, we recommend our High Force Clutch Spring Kit. This Spring Kit provides an additional 15% clutch clamping force, which directly increases clutch torque capacity, compared to the commonly used OEM Honda CR500 Clutch Springs (about 65% increase in clamping force over the stock TRX clutch Springs). Our High Force Spring Kit retains very similar pull force to the CR500 springs, actually slightly less lever pull force is required. These are the best spring available for high TQ / load applications. Our High Force Springs were designed to provide the most clutch clamping force possible, without excessive lever pull force or coil bind.
For Mid Torque Applications, We recommend our Light Pull Clutch Spring Kit. This Spring Kit provides equivalent clamping force to the commonly used CR500 clutch springs (about a 45% increase over the stock TRX clutch springs), while having a significantly lighter pull than the CR500 springs (about 20-25% lighter lever pull force than the CR500 springs, still slightly increased pull force of about 5%-7% over the stock TRX clutch springs lever pull force). We designed this spring kit to provide as good clutch clamping force as the commonly used CR500 springs, while achieving the lightest lever pull force possible.
For Stock Engines, the Stock TRX450R Clutch Springs are typically all that is needed and a upgraded clutch springs is typically not a requirement. The big positive to upgrading clutch springs in a stock engine is increase clamping load can increase the clutch plate life.
